Our baby girl is officially a big girl now! We went to the doctor and she looks great! She's 35 lbs and 38 inches tall, and her doctor says that is just right for her age. I had to fill out a questionnaire about her gross and fine motor abilities and her language. I couldn't believe some of the things they were asking if she should do, because she could do most of them a year ago! I know they have to screen for the kids who aren't doing what they should be, but it did feel good to know she is doing great!
Leah pretty much makes us laugh daily. She's witty (even at 3), and loves to play jokes on you. Her favorite is scaring you, but she needs to learn not to announce out loud that she's about to scare the person in the next room who can hear her loud and clear. :) Recently, she got a fake spider and snake from a store, and the first thing she said she wanted to do was leave them on Eric's chair in the study and dining room where he would find them and be scared!
She also is a thinker. She is always processing what you are saying and working hard to have it make sense in her world. She also must have some sort of photographic memory. I was showing a friend a picture of something Leah wanted for her birthday. We took this picture at least 6 weeks ago. I told my friend that I thought the toy was at Target. Leah looked up at me and said "That's not Target, that's from Kohl's". She amazes me with her memory!
In regard to academics, she knows all of the letters in the alphabet and can count to 25 regularly. She is working on writing her name, and most of the time it comes out "LEH". That's close enough for now! We'll get the A later. :)
Leah is still very in to all things princess and fairy related. Anytime she wears a skirt or fancy shoes, she will tell us she is a princess. :) She still loves to sit and read, and now has developed a love for Disney movies as well. We saw The Lion King in the theater, but her favorite is Aladdin and Little Mermaid (again, it's all about the princess).
I would like to start a new tradition with Leah and our blog this year. The following is a list of questions that I will ask her every year on her birthday, so that in 10 years we can see all of her likes and dislikes for each year. Enjoy!
